Conference Objective: To create awareness for building sector practitioners; architects and planners including consultants and academic institution regarding Green Buildings and large-scale integration of sustainable energy sources to transform Indian cities into Green/ energy efficient (Solar) cities.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has been implementing a Scheme on “Energy Efficient Solar/Green Buildings” which aims to promote the widespread construction of energy efficient solar/green buildings in the country through a combination of financial and promotional incentives.
The conference will bring together senior architects, planners, development authorities and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy officials in a panel discussion format to:

  • Provide an overview of Government of India (MNRE) scheme on Energy Efficient Solar/Green Building Scheme and facilitate adoption of energy efficient solar/green buildings;

  • Explore design methodologies to integrate renewable energy (solar) into building design at city level and retrofitting of renewable energy and energy efficiency systems in green buildings;

  • Identify the need for bridging the gap between the two levels - to better integrate the Building Level Sustainability initiatives for addressing issues at the Urban Scale and vice-versa.

  • Highlight through case studies, environmental planning considerations including policy, regulatory and financial barriers for solar buildings/cities; and
